XM SATELLITE RADIO UNVEILS HONDA SI EXTREME AT 2005 SEMA

First Phase Concept Car Celebrates Music and Motorsports in Motion

Las Vegas, November 1, 2005 – XM Satellite Radio, the nation's leading provider of satellite radio with more than 5 million subscribers, today unveiled the first phase of its radical Honda Civic Si Extreme concept car at the 2005 Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, NV. The concept is named in honor of XM Extreme (XM Channel 152), where XM listeners can tune into the full season of live Indy Racing League race coverage, including the Indy 500.

Based on the all-new 2006 Honda Civic Si sport compact, XM’s Extreme version is scheduled for pit stops at major 2005/2006 consumer auto shows, Hot Import Nights and Indy Racing League races. For its SEMA debut, the Civic Si Extreme carries the distinctive black, red and yellow paint scheme of its Honda-powered #7 Indy Racing League sibling, also on display. Andretti Green Team owners Michael Andretti and Kim Green, as well as XM Satellite Radio IRL driver and 2005 Firestone 400 winner Bryan Herta were on hand to help unveil the concept car.

XM created the Honda Civic Si Extreme to celebrate its strategic partnerships with Honda, the Andretti-Green Race Team and the Indy Racing League. In addition to its eye-catching IRL paint design, the show car is wearing an aggressive body kit by Honda Factory Performance, and has been fitted with race-bred 19-inch RS-GT wheels by BBS and ultra-high performance Fuzion tires from the motorsports enthusiasts at The Tire Rack. Clearly visible through the satin-black BBS spoked wheels are equally commanding oversize Brembo brakes.

The XM Civic Si Extreme concept vehicle project is being developed by Five Axis – a leading prototype and custom design firm. Design renderings of future evolutions, shown during XM Satellite Radio’s SEMA press conference, hint that the Extreme’s bold IRL race car looks will be complemented by full-throttle applications of under-the-hood performance and ready-to-rock street racer performance features.
