11 second CRX, suggestions to improve (long, deatiled, post, please read it all)

First the basics, its an 88 CRX, never been salvaged is a drag car that is streetable but isnt taken on the Streets, we run a category down here in the Dominican Republic where its FWD with any amount of modifications limited only by 25x8-13 slicks. The car has a full interior the only thing missing is the AC system but the full stock interior is there. One of our main drawbacks right now is the track itself, it’s not very good, cars from other countries drop up to .5 seconds from their regular E/T here.

Anyway We have the following in the car right now:

• B16a
• JE Pistons (9.0:1, I believe)
• Eagle Rod's
• VTi Cam's
• Port and Polished head (not sure to exactly what dimensions)
• Stock Crankshaft (what are the benefits of billet?)
• Custom Intake manifold and Exhaust pipe that exits in front of the passenger side tire
• T3/T4 (looking to upgrade any suggestions to push the car up to 450 without nitrous would be nice)
• Tial Wastegate boosting 20 PSI (limited by spring will upgrade soon)
• 255LPH Walbro pump
• Our slicks are only 24.5 but they should be upgraded to 25 pretty soon.
• Nitrous at 50HP right now, will be 100 soon (how do we know how much the engine can take?)
• HP Racing Exhaust manifold
• Bigger Throttle Body unsure how much
• Suspension is off-brand coil-overs all over tied down springs (550lb. in the front)(800lb. in the back) stock springs though.
• 1000CC injectors
• AEM EMS ECU

Things I know the car needs:

• Traction bars for the front
• A chassis specialist to make the body more rigid (hoping to drop 60ft. times to 1.4-1.5)(what does this entail though?)
• A Full racing flywheel, we only have the stock one but balanced.
• Intercooler Sprayer has been ordered to cool the intake charge
• New, bigger turbo (suggestions)

I will take better pictures in the coming days.

With this setup we ran

1.85 60ft time
11.57 E/T @ about 128mph

Also we ordered a blowzilla GT40/t3 turbo but it might be too big, any opinions, we wantto install it but were afraid a GT35R would perform better.

All the gaskets are stocl honda aplications, and about 3mm was cut off the block to ensure a good flat surface since the head was very off level, are stock honda gaskets good enough? will there even be a noticeable difference in buying racing gaskets.

cuz its down at the D.R.. but nayway.. to answer your nitrous question.. ive seen stock CIVIC engines on a 75 shot.. your engine is built so you should be able to handle a 100 shot.. especially since its pretty much only your race car..

Yeah, you could throw mor nitrious in if your s**t is built. What times are you shooting for btw?



My boy has an All Motor 11sec crx :shock: I think his best time ever was an 11.5 :D

what kind of nitrous kit.. that is a HUGE factor as to how much the car can take...

Direct port is the best. Equal amount of fuel/nitrous per cylinder. With a single nozle system the first cylinder is going to comsume most of the fuel/nitrous.

Nitrous Kit is NOS wet system, i think its wet, the gas and fuel mix before going into the engine, we are shooting for a 10.7 in a few months, current power output is at 390 with the nitrous i will post a dyno graph ASAP. ALso 11 seconds on an all motor CRX is crazy, I´d like to see that.

As for a biger turbo. It is still a t3/t4 but it is one sick turbo and will easily push 450whp. Is precisions SC61. That turbo is stright nuts!

the gt40 turbo is pretty large and spool would be very much slower that now. You could do what alot of peope do. Run ur nitrous too help get tha turbo spooling then have it cuttoff when u start building boost.
