Ive got a 98 civic si type R (Canadian) but it has no sign of a vtec engine. It should say vtec on the head unit right? Any opinions on this?

Which one is it? Si or Type R? Even if its an Si ( Canadian ) it should still be a sohc vtec engine. Unless its badged incorrectly. >_<

It should have a small capsule looking thing right next to the distributor/head.

This = FAIL! If your engine says VTECH please take it back to Wal Mart and get a better phone...

Now OP Post a pic of your engine for the best answer!

i bet its an si with a sohc vtec motor. Sucks you thought it was a type r.
also if its a canadian si it wont say vtec on the valve cover. i think only el's have the vtec on the valve cover

i thought 99-00 Civic Si's were B16 motors.. and If it's b-series then its not a SOHC..

The moment I cross the US/Canada border, my '00 EX gains a whole new dimension of sportiness. =)

I am most certainly sure he meant to say he has a SI-R which is the Canadian version of the US Si.
