2001 civ not starting (starter relay??)

So I've been struggling w/ this for a while. First, car stats: 2001 Civic LX 1.7L 5-spd 4dr.

New battery and just replaced the starter today, but it wont start. When I turn the key (all interior lights, headlights, etc. turn on fine), I get one click and nothing else... every 20th try or so, it will start fine, but it's getting less and less frequent.
Like I said, brand new starter & batt. I think it's the starter solenoid/relay, but 1. I dont know where it's located; and 2) don't know if that's the same thing as a main relay. Help, please!!!
Thanks!

I'll post the same reply I posted to someone else with a 7th gen.

This will be your best friend...
Buy the Honda factory service manual for that generation Civic.
It's about $60, but they break the car down to every nut and bolt.

You can get it here:

The starter has a simple circuit. If the click you hear is definitely coming from the starter solenoid, which is built into the starter, then check voltage at the large white wire that runs directly from the battery to the starter motor. Also clean and tighten the white wire terminal where it connects to the starter.
