ok, when i start drivrng my first gear feels smooth but when my car goes into second gear my engine seems to pull or yank! i know its not a missfire! when im driving in the freeway i dont feel the car going into the 3rd or 4th gear? when i step on the gas my rpm's stay at 3, i'll go from 60mph to 80mph with no struggle but my rpm's still dont go above 3! when i get to about 80mph i still dont feel that the 3rd or 4th gear is kicking in! even when i the accelerate hard the rpm's wont go above 3! anyone know what it can be?:?:

Have you checked the spark plugs or the mechanical timing?

Clogged fuel filter?

i did a fuel pressure test and its good, wack! thats not what i wanted... i think that means my tranny is done? i dont know what else it could be? this s**t isnt getting better, now when im driving when i rev the engine my rpm's go off the roof and my ride doesnt move it just yanks for a split second then the gears kick in! especialy when im on the street after a stop light my 2nd gear doesnt seem to kick in good! it runs good in the freeway after hitting 65mph! i did some research on early 7th gen. civics and found out that the early 2000s civics, especialy on the 01s. have tranny problems.....what a burn! if anyone knows of anything else i can do or check, to see what causes my ride from doing what its doing let me know a.s.a.p. before it gets worse! thanks

Does sound like a transmission problem. Try twice draining and refilling the transmission with Honda or Honda-recommended ATF.

I don't know ATs too well, but I know that your torque converter is essential. Talk to a tranny shop in your area, or your local dealership and see what they think. If you only have to replace your torque converter, you'll be far better off than having a full tranny rebuild.

Torque Converter is essentially the clutch for an automatic transmission. More involved than changing a clutch on a manual transmission. Labor I would imagine at most shops will probably be a little more than the cost of the part.

Never used the website but seems to be legit. Look around and compare prices.

Becareful when bringing any vehicle in for tranny work, they tend to fix things and charge you when the things "fixed" never needed to be in the first place.

Used d17 trannys arent that hard to find. Look locally on craigslist, look on ebay, look on other honda forums. You should be able to find one for relatively cheap. Good luck.

FINALY my ride is back on the streets of LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA!!!!! runs smoother than a BMW!!! $475 is what a transmission specialist charged me to rebuild my tranny! I did all the labor.....took off the tranny and slapped it back on!!! also slapped on new drive axles, brakes, rotors, tranny mounds, torque converter....hooked up my tire alignment just to name a couple of things!!!!!
