6800rom vtec?

Just did a swap to my buddies 99si we put in a obd2 jdm b18c type r with a obd2 p73 ecu. His vtec isn't engaging until 6800rpm n I have no idea y.also when driving it runs cold like first notch on the temp gauge cold it has a full size integra radiator when at idol its fine it warms up midway n the fans kick on it perfect. I need some inputs on these problems

An unmodified ECU doesn't allow vtec engagement until the car is at running temperature. So that could be your issue right there. Are you getting proper oil pressure?

Not for certain about the oil pressure he doesn't have a manager gauge but the ecu is obd2 which can't really have a lot done to it and I dnt believe his gauges to be in accurate they workd fine with the b16 vtec was right where it should bw

Id check the thermostat, it could possibly be sticking.

So r were leaning towards it running too cool while driving which is delaying crossover

Vtec engages from just a few things, electrical signal, oil pressure, engine temp. You don't have a broad spectrum to diagnose.

I understand that but on my car if its not warm enough it won't kick at all im confused on why its 1000 rpms delayed have u ever see one be delayed rather than not kicking in at all

Why haven't you replaced the thermostat yet?

Any CEL codes?

None n I haven't had a chance to check it out yet he's been driving it I was getting some ideas together first

After you replace the thermostat, be sure to bleed the cooling system.
