97 civic ex ignition problem????

My friend says he's been having problems with his key getting stuqqck in his ignition. Is there any reason why this is happening so often? Please help. Thanks

When and how is it getting stuck?
Is it getting stuck inside when he turns the car off and can't get it out?
Is it getting stuck when he puts it in and tries to start the car?

Mine was getting a little tight. I sprains some all purpose lubricant in with the key in. Turned the key on and off a few times. Problem solved
