Are billet aluminum short throw shifters any good?

I was looking at short throw shifters on Ebay and a lot of them are billet aluminum. I was wondering if these are worth paying $20 for, or are these just a waste of money. A steel short throw shifter is around a $100. Has anyone tried aluminum before? Does the aluminum bend or break easy?

Ive seen a few snap, the dodgy eBay gear

I'd go carbon steel over anything else, the last thing you want it is to break on a road trip and have to do what #4 just said, lol

I'm rocking an Mfactory one, I'll always buy Jap and American
