Hey I have a 00 Si B16a2 motor with a 01 GSR Trani in my civic, and I have been thinking about doing a hybrid 5th gear when i change my clutch and flywheel out next. My friend and I were talking about it and we were wondering if instead of buying a hybrid gear offline somewhere to if we could swap a 5th gear out of a LS trani or how different it would be front the stock ratios. And anyone know what all I would need to do to just swap it out?? I just want a lower rpm in 5th gear for driving on the freeway and such.
Thanks Again.

5th gear on a GSR transmission is good, the rpm is a lot lower than a B16 Transmission 5th.

You can in fact do an LS 5th gear swap. you need the mainshaft and countershaft... I think it makes your rpms approximately 300rpm lower on the highway. I plan on doing this swap over winter.

LS 5th gear countershaft PN: 23461-P80-000
LS 5th gear mainshaft PN: 23581-P80-000

You can purchase them from www.acuraoemparts.com
