Well I finished my B20VTEC buildup a while ago and I forgot to post it.. so here it is! lots of pics!

Ferrea Bronze Valve Guides

Ferrea Stainless Steel Valves

Close up of a Valve

Haulin' the B20

Honed the sleeves

The block looks sad and alone..

Crankshaft waiting to be installed.. it weights 33 pounds!

I painted the block with hi temp paint.. should look as new!

Stock flat low compression pistons.. no $ for high compression pistons..

Safety first! notched the pistons so the valves wont hit it

B16 head is ready to install!

Close-up on the combustion chamber.. so shiny!

Bronze Valve Guide installed

B20VTEC installed on my GS-R! woot!

Golden Eagle braided line for the oil

Teh stamp

Hope you all enjoyed it, I did :D

my next project:

well when I bought my teg it came with a B16 head so..

I got to say this motor is hella more torquier, I can't comment more since it's on break-in.. havn't tested at high RPM.

How's the motor compared to the GSR? NSX brakes  Let us know how it goes.

It's quiet good compared to the GS-R, and this setup should be a lot cheaper!
I think it's almost neck to neck but man, those low compression pistons are killing my performance!

If you upgrade to high compression pistons then you'll spank the GS-R and ITR motor all day long 8)

It's a long and old debate as for what head flows better. Also this motor is not intended for high revvin' like the VTEC blocks are.. I'll keep it to 7000RPM and it's safe.

really? how many CR-VTECs have you had? I've had mine for almost 2 years without a problem. though I don't have a stock block, I do have stock LS rods. but they can handle 8500rpm just fine.

oh, and a B18C1 head doesn't flow better than a B16.

have you done something with fuel? I think I'm in need of fuel tuning.. I think is running way lean

I have the Hondata S200 system. if there's anything I could recommend, it's to get Hondata. it feels so much better than with a V-AFC and FPR. plus, Hondata gives you 2-step, which is awesome.

i think b16 head flows better, the manifold is single stage not like the dual butterfly of the gsr.
so yea b16head > gsr head

yeh keep it to 7k rpms and watch the gsr's and type r's fly by u ;)

slightly if even that much...;)

as far the intake manifold and the single stage and sdual stage goes..u can swap them out or u can disable ur butterflies..

haha i have to have a crvtec to make a comment on it??????????????????
if lsvtec and crvtec were so good wtf did honda never bring it out?

i have seen and heard many peoples crvtec and lsvtecs blow..u can blame it on the build u can blame it on the driver..
bottom line its nothing compared to a gsr or type r..
the reason those motors blow is cause people who drive them swear they can rev to 8-9k rpm
and i dont think ls rods and b20 rods are the same anyway...i might be wrong on that...

i have seen many people go crazy about the b20 and lsvtec builds and u knwo what..they turn rigth back the f**k around sell the car and goes gets a gsr or type r..or even a b16..

the hassles aren;t worth it..

urs aint blow cause u aint push it..

i could push my gsr all day everyday and not have to worry about shyt...

yup.. I'm not gonna go racing with this engine like I did with the gs-r. Its more fragile. But for daily driving, going uphill is a breeze. Anyways my gs-r block is out and next year I'll be putting it back.. totally forged.

the block i can say is MUCH MUCH stronger without a dopubt than the b16...
i understand the torque is nice..
but i really never had any problem whatsoever with my gsr...though it was in a civic

it being more fragile is the reason i wouldn;t mess with it..;)
haha its also the reason honda didn't mess with it..

oh well.. I could put my girdle on the B20 block and it should be safer.

nice build man, but have you ever seen what goes into putting a girdle onto a B series block, its not a bolt up unless the block cam with it. You have to get the block line honed
