My civic boggs and sputters when I drive but when I'm going a decent speed it will stop and it will pop or misfire (not sure what it's called) when I shift gears! What could it be?

Judging by the impressively precise explanation of the problem and information/background about the car, I'm going to have to guess that it could literally two dozen different things. Is there a dead ferret in the intake? Bad gas? Fat girl in the trunk? Clogged cat or bad distributor? Who knows.
