Climate control knobs

One of the knobs is not lit so I was going to pull the trim off around the controls and the radio to replace the bulb. Does the trim ring just pop off? I was able to get one corner loose and pulled as hard as I felt comfortable doing for fear of breaking something. Is there a trick to getting that ring off?

Not that I know of. But...i found this guide to help replace led lights and stuff and towards the bottom it teaches you to take out the climate control to replace lights.
