It is a software program that is burned to a chip, then inserted into P28 ECU's which come off of 92-95' EX/Si Civics. For your car, you will need an OBD2A-->OBD1 harness to run that ECU.

It can can adjust your Air/Fuel ratio, set rev limiters, and do all kinds of other fun stuff. I would rather get a legit tune, but Crome chipping is cheaper.

Im sure you take it to a place to get it "tuned", but many people do it from their backyards. Im not quiet sure on the process as a friend is going to do it for me.

All the basic info you need to know about crome

Piggy back when talking about engine management is like it sounds. Just like it sounds it piggy backs the stock ECU/ECM and changes/modifies values that the stock ECU/ECM puts out. Piggy backs only manipulate values thus making them not as good as full stand alone setups.

before you chrome your ecu, make sure someone in houston tunes that program.

better yet, hit up a reputable shop in houston that does alot of tuning.

secret services or asaa racing in houston are great shops.

dont chip a civic. your not going to get much of a gain and you gotta get it tuned afterwards so its not worth the money

A proper tune with the right combination of parts will yield the most hp per dollar spent.

You might be right saying that just a chip itself isn't worth it on a stock motor, but something that is built or has cams, etc can definitely benefit from a basemap that will get you to your tuner rather than running on the stock ecu.

Plus, having your ecu chipped now isn't that bad of an idea. You can basically use it for any setup that you do in the future including a boosted setup. So there will be no need to get another ecu if you would swap to a different engine setup, just a different chip.
