D16y8 or y7 engine

I have a rod knocking and im needing a cheap bottom end to rebuild so i can just do a quick swap. Thanks I live in Norman,Ok

D16y8 cause thats vtec not sure if y7 is vtec though. if it has a soloniod behind the distributor on y7 then yeah choose either. but for vtec comfirmation go y8

D16Y8 and D16Y7 bottom ends and different in stock piston size (compression ratio) and a possible knock sensor on the back casting in the Y8. Are you swapping out your D for a B, and just wanting a cheap swap in until then?, or just wanting to 'build' and D series?
