Hey guys i got a 98 honda civic ex with stock internals and want to get a turbocharger. I am thinking about getting the edelbrock kit but was wondering if anyone else had this setup if you could give me your opinion on it. Is it a good kit? What kind of 1/4 mile time would you get? If anyone has any input on this please let me know. thanks.

you know i saw a thread on clubSI.com, this guy put that kit on a b16 and it made some mad amount of power at the boost level that it was running on a stock motor. i cant remember the numbers but it was up there. go to www.clubsi.com and search for it in the boosted forms. he also gives alot of good info on it and what he likes and dislikes about the kit.

From what I've heard it is a good kit but a little pricey.

you should do a custom setup, it's a lot cheaper and would be just as good, if not better.

there is a thread floating around here...there's a guy living in cali, where pretty much anything aftermarket is a no no, and his engine looks 100% stock, but is turbo'd. can't find it, maybe someone can post a link to it.

It was in the one magazine I got. It looked awesome, couldn't even see the turbo.

yeah, but someone posted it in CC, the IC piping was ran through the stock air box, the turbo was hidden, and the IC was painted black to where you coulding see it from the front...couldn't believe it was turbo'd.

As it stands it is about the best complete kti you can get, only drawback is the huge price tag.

my advise to anyone looking to turbo is to look into it a little more. you can easily put together a kit for less then 2000. the only thing you have to worry about is tuning which can be pretty expensive depending on who and how long. dont look at it like "Hey! I bought an Edelbrock turbo kit my car is going to be bad ass......" your most likely going to need a new clutch and flywheel not long after boosting, your driving habits may change(i beat my car daily and when i boost im going to drive like a grandma). the perfect setup depends on what you want the car to do.... straight line, highway, auto-x.

a nice super60 with a ccfab manifold is a nice setup. Johnny racecar front mount, some rc 440s, 2.5-3" downpipe with test pipe installed, tial 38mm external wastegate, your choice of BOV(i enjoy the RFL(really f**king loud)) clutch/flywheel, and some uberdata or crome time. you will be very satisfied.

edelbrock kit was a great fit, i couldn't complain everything lined up perfectly
also with buying a kit, you dont have to worry that you may have missed something if you piece together your own kit.

im not TOO worried bout the price, and my civic is a daily driver as well......i dont want any OUTRAGEOUS gains...........just to make my mainly stock d a lil quicker.......i can always go back and make the kit better........................or just go with greddy(on this site)

i just got done installing one and i have to say first hand that the edelbrock kit is one of the nices kits i have ever installed, everything fit perfect. after install it was dynoed on a stock b16 and made 218 @ 7psi, the kit has impressed me very much. the only thing i dont like is the price, but i would have to say i like it better than the greddy kit.
