My 93 ex is overheating. It has 249,XXX. I notest antifreeze on the ground on the drivers side of the car. Does the water pump leak when it goes bad?

It's almost surely a bad water pump, especial if coolant is leaking from the weep hole at the bottom of the lower timing belt cover.

Are the water pumps hard to do? What else should I change when I am doing the water pump?
The difficult part of the job is removing the dreaded crank pulley bolt. While the pulley is off, consider also replacing the timing belt and belt tensioner, as well as the camshaft and front main oil seals especially if they are leaking.
