its VR so it should do fairly well indoors without a flahs, with a flash it would do good. thats the lens i have but mine isnt VR

I think you'll do fine, either make sure there is enough light, or use your flash =)

Im using a 28-80mm and it does fine indoors with flash..or enough light

if you were shooting at 18mm to get the full 3.5 you might be able to get away with some indoor stuff...but it wont be the easiest thing to do

Thanks guys, guess I have to play around w/it, I just hate the way flashes look. Although yesterday I was experimenting with the different flash levels, I just hate how manufactured they look, I want something more natural.

I'm also a noob w/it so it could be something else entirely, i got it to look pretty good bumping up the ISO but it got too grainy.

I got my Nikkor 55-200mm DX VR today.

Here's a quick comparison shot between my old Quantaray kit lens and the new Nikkor:

Keep in mind that the Nikkor is physically longer, so that's why it's "zoomed" in more.

I have the 55-200mm Nikkor without VR and it pretty much sucks. Definitely wish it was VR.

Had to play a lot to get this in focus. Manual, of course. I hear telephoto lenses aren't great at macro ... :P
