heres the deal with exhaust. the only 2 reasons to go up to 3 inch diameter is a. you have a larger displacement engine or b. your running a turbo....you will literally want to punch yourself everytime you accelerate hard with 3 inch exhaust because it will be so amplified and raspy. as for the valve.......unless you have a need to use straight exhaust you should probably waste your money on something else.

with a 1.7 ......this valve is OVERKILL

Youre going to lose power if you get 3 inch exhaust, unless youre running high boost on a good turbo and have a good tune.

An exhaust cut-off may or may not help much, depending on what you're trying to do. It will affect the shape of your power curve in ways you may or may not like.You have to ask yourself if losing 5 HP of mid-range power is worth 3 HP of top-end.

^^ True, True. A notice in throttle response may also be a reason too. Or have one just to say "What loud exaust officer" with the flip of a switch.
