What? It kind of does if you want to match it to your engine's mileage, rolling the mileage back on your odometer or messing with it in any way is illegal in some states.
I thought rolling back the odometer originally in the car and selling it as a different mileage in that same car was illegal, not rolling back an odometer to go in another car.
yep. rolling the mileage and installing it into a new car without documentation of original mileage is illegal. selling the car without a mileage clause would be illegal too. you're safe as long as you document the correct mileage on the car and add a clause to any bill of sale
