help choosing a GoPro camera =)

so i was looking at the SD Hero 170 for $99.99 and it seems to be a pretty good deal but is it a better deal to go with the $179.99 HD Hero 960?

i saw looking at the specs on each page and most of them made no sense to me so can you guys help me decide please!

It is nice to have the HD portion also i would love that that, and i see no sense in the $300 motorsports package when i can get one of these and then a $30 suction mount or roll cage mount and be happy with those

can any one hel[ describe the differences and tell me if the extra $80 is really worth it

the main difference is the format these cameras shoot in

sd hero 170 saves in AVI file which can be edited with any program including a program already on windows (windows movie maker)

the hd hero 960 shoots in ...well..obviously HD also known as mp4 which you need a separate video editor to edit that type of file (sony vegas, ect)


if I were you I would check out the olympus stylus tough series first, before going wit ha semi-no name product for the same price

and to be honest, half of the mounts they sell could be easily made for much much less.

thanks for the input, im going to look into the olympus...i think if i do go with the GoPro im not going HD cuz i dont want to buy/afford new video editing software and yeah i bet these mount can be made for much less, but im buying a really nice ass one for my nikon d100 from filmtools.com for rolling shots of my friends car
