Hood Rust

i have a 98 hx and was wondering if there is any way to take care of small hood rust spots. when i got my car a year and a half ago there were small spots but they are about the size of a nickle now maybe a little smaller but i was wondering how to cover them up considering i live in minnesota and there is alot of snow here. if u have any ideas please let me know or any links. thanks!

to properly stop the rust and fix it you have to sand it down to the bare metal as long as its surface rust i would sand about 1/8th of an inch around the rust spot to make sure all of its gone then paint it and clear it
