how do you get avg free now?

I got a new harddrive and I'm trying to re-install all my old s**t but I can't get AVG free. I already tried searching download.com and the one I downloaded stops in the middle of installation and says it won't work.

I went to avg's webpage and everytime I try to download it, the file just opens up a URL in my firefox and takes me to a page of what's included in the download... It doesn't actually install anything.

Help?

Here is the .EXE Download Link, this should work as I just tried it and had no problem. Save it to the Desktop (or whatever) then run it.

I already have that. The 2 programs I install on every computer I work on are SpywareBlaster and CCleaner. I used to use Spybot:S&D but I forget why I stopped using it.

And I think I figured out why AVG wasn't working for me. But I'm too busy installing WoW right now to take care of it lol.

Go to softpedia.org and search for it but he highly recommends Microsoft Security Essentials (google MSE third result usually).

Spybot S&D is good to remove left over spyware, thats about it because it won't protect you worth a damn. - Eric

all ccleaner is for is to clean up files that dont need to be there. it has nothing to do with anti-virus. i too build and repair computers. I use nod32 and it is amazing how much stuff avg and norton miss. ive even had one pc that i had to repair that had a virus that attached itself to avg and would not allow it to update or turn on and whenever you tried to turn it on it would pop up some porn site instead. it was pretty funny. and of course three things ive always stuck on any pc i build is nod32, ccleaner, and spyware terminator.

spewing second hand information from someone like they are some kind of expert because they "work on computers" is lame... i also like the OP put avg on every computer i work on.. that doesn't make it right or wrong... but my personal experience with avg and the experience of my customers has for the most part been extremely positive.. the isolated instances where a computer has come back infected WITH avg still installed GENERALLY has avg that the customer never bothered to update.. and ANY anti-virus that is not updated is useless.. i am not praising avg as if it is some solve all software suite, but for a free anti-virus software i have been very happy with it..

ive tried AVG. i didnt think it was so special. not to say I had any issues with it. Found myself a good copy of ESET nod32 smart security 4 and called it a day. bit torrents are ur friend when it comes to finding a good security/virus for free, @ least in my experience.

AVG/Spybot is what I use as well... I need to get rid of this crappy 500gb hitachi hard drive and upgrade to a 1TB WD. My computer has been f**king up lately, ugh!

Did you try the link, I told you ... I just tried it again and it worked for me. Here it is again ...
