I have a 1994 Civic and I'm looking into getting an AEM cold air intake, but I'm not using the car for racing. It's just for me. I am wanting to know if it's worth it for me to get this? Does it truly help the cars' performance? I'm still in the process of learning about these different parts. Thanks in advance.

Kristina
Think about the future and what your end goal is. Do you want to go the extra and get the best or do you want to be an autozone ricer?

If you are looking for improved sound just remove the rescognator and let it suck through the filter housing.

*sigh*

marketing > you.

a CAI is a CAI. The only differences are in the design eg: how long the pipe is, what kind of material (mandrel/crushed), diameter and what size/type of filter is used.

if anything a CAI would be a LAGGIER response considering the air has to travel farther to the IM.

i put one on and the only diff is sound imo, if it did add power it would be nothing you could feel, if you wanna get rid of your ugly airbox then get one, but if your getting it for performance then don't waste your time, like someone above said, rid out the resonator in the stock box and throw a drop in k&n and you'll get the same performance just not sound

not true.

the stock airbox uses corrogated plastic tubing which has bevels on the inside which disrupts airflow. so technically, you wont be getting the same performance.

If you are gonna get a CAI or a short ram, you are gonna have to add to the other end too to get any type of performance. I have an AEM CAI, DC Sports header and Thermal R&D exhaust and my car gets up pretty good compared to stock. Not fast by any means but faster.

lol ok so basically what everyone is saying is that if i'm not interested in racing or spending tons of money i probably shouldn't get an intake. with an intake, to increase performance, i need an exhaust and manifold which is just more money for something i'm not really looking to do. but if i just want a better sound an intake alone will be fine. am i right?

sorry...still learning. :2confused

thanks again,
kristina

well, if you are looking for the sound mostly then get a SHORT RAM. Make up your own mind on what you want cause EBAY intakes are mostly s**t regardless of what other people will tell you. Decide what YOU like and get it.

she should get a short ram either way, a cai is just a metal straw without a bypass. a dyno study was done in one of the major import mags and short rams picked up more power then cai intakes. i agree that this thread should be locked 3 pages of bs things like get an ebay intake is to much.
