Keyless Entry Problem (Ronj Prefered)

So, I am activating my keyless door lock entry for the first time in my 98 Honda Civic LX.

And I am having problems. Can you guys tell me what I am doing wrong.

So on my Radio, when I go through the steps with the car off, turn the key and press the VALET button, all of the locks unlock so that I think it is ready.

Then I push the unlock button on my wireless remote (that I just bought), and nothing happens with the locks.

Then I turn the key and take it out and I try the wireless remote and the remote still doesn't work. I can see a little red light on the wireless remote when you press a button on the remote, so I am assuming that the battery of the remote is good.

So, what am I doing wrong. Is there something in the wirless system inside the car that needs to be plugged in?

Do I need to do something more with the remote? I bought the remote from a company in New York and they shipped it to me. It is a Honda remote for my make and model.

How do I diagnose the problem?

are you sure you're following the instructions properly?

maybe the remote you got isn't actually the right one. what's the remote look like? What's the FCC ID?

NOTE: After storing its code, make sure
the transmitter works properly by
repeatedly pressing one of its buttons.
(The system starts to work when you
press any transmitter button six times.)
