I don’t know what to do next. I searched and found this out
Oem radio (red led not flashing) when I hold the line between FM and TAPE the car will cycle (clunk) if I press the buttons while im still holding the program button down the KEY works fine as soon as I let go it stops working

I tried key ON (II) press lock, Key off (I) , Key on (II) press button. Repeated it 4 times and nothing happened

I think the Key works fine because it lights up red and when pressed along with program button it works

Programming the Transmitter
NOTES:
• The system accepts up to four transmitters.
• Entering the programming mode cancels all learned
transmitter codes, so none of the previously
programmed transmitters will work. You must
reprogram all the transmitters once you’re in the
programming mode.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Press and hold the Valet-Disarm
button on the radio (between the
AM/FM and CD/TAPE buttons) to
enter the programming mode.
(Continue to hold the button
during this procedure, or
programming will be cancelled.)
Check that the power door locks
cycle to confirm that you’re in the
programming mode.
3. Within 5 seconds, press the “Lock” or “Unlock”
button on the transmitter. Check that the power
door locks cycle to confirm that the code was
accepted.
4. Within 10 seconds, press the “Lock” or “Unlock”
button on each of the remaining transmitters.
5. After all the transmitters have been programmed,
release the Valet-Disarm button to exit

Hello all, I just bought a 2000 LX for my daughter. The car only came with keys. I can buy a key fob. However, how do I know if this fob would be able to be programmed? Did all Civics come with the receiver or do I need to find one? How do I know if my Civic already has a receiver? Thanks for any help. =)

It should already have a receiver, I believe that all LX models came standard with keyless entry.

Go to the dealer or order an OEM replacement online (eBay or other). The programming instructions from the above posts will help you set up the remotes for the vehicle.

Below is what I found in the owners manual. Where would I check to see if the receiver is installed? =)

Remote Transmitter
Standard on the DX Value Package and
EX models in the U.S., and SE model in
Canada
Optional on the LX model in the U.S.
Your car also comes with two remote
transmitters; see page 73 for an
explanation of the operation.

Seems like remote entry was an add-on feature for the 99-00 LX models.

To determine if your car is equipped with the keyless entry feature, remove the driver's kick pannel (big plastic piece to the left of the brake pedal, held on with a few philips screws). Then check for a control unit box:
