lights

I've got a 2000 civic ex, and for some reason the parking lights, won't shut off, head lights will not turn on except brights and in order to keep them on. I have to hold the switch. Anyone have advice on what's wrong? And possibly how to fix it. And please keep in mind I'm not much of a car guy so my knowledge is limited. Thanks.
