Odometer not working

Does a faulty vehicle speed sensor also cause the odometer to stop working. Both my speedometer and odometer are not working so I was wondering if it was the VSS or the guage cluster.

Could be either. Mine wasnt working, I cleaned the VSS and it was a bit better and then the next day it started acting up again and it turned out to be the cluster.

Go with the cheapest thing first....just clean the vss and see if that helps.

i dunno if its the same on civics, but on my moms 91 accord the faulty vss caused the check engine light to come on also ... and yes no speedo and no odo ..... another interesting thing was the cruise control wouldnt engauge either so i guess that works off the vss

it may do that on his, but on my 5th gen theres no CEL for it.
