thanks..do you happen to know how to do that on a D50 or D40 nikon? i will soon buy my own d40, but i dont wanna mess with settings on my friends camera.

slower shutter speed or up the ISO, upping the ISO will make the pictures a little grainy

how do you get the background to come out all black?

here are my first attempts at a real photoshoot with a dslr camera. This isn't my car, its my friends. I didn't take any pics of my car because i snapped my lip in half (wont get into any details).

any positive or negative comments welcome because this is my first real camera :]

EDIT: btw im using a Nikon D40

how do you get the background to come out all black?

On the cat one I traced around her with the lasso then did a reverse select and turned the brightness down all the way.

The flower actually doesn't have a black background.
