is there a faster way to sand down wheels? Because is pretty painful doing it by hand.

been sanding the lip on my wheels for about 2 hours and got some of the clear coat off.

sanding with 1000grit should i use 80girt?

1000 grit is more for a polish. Drop down to 100 and work your way up, and do it by hand.

^^ what he said.

Sand with 100, move up to 400 then 800 then finally 1000. If you really want quality, go 1200. If you're painting them, stop after 1000, paint several coats, then wet sand them after with 1200.

why paint several coat then wet sand it with 1200?

could i just wet sand it to 1000 then paint it?

You can just paint it then wet sand it with 1000 then 1200.

I only suggested sanding before to help the paint stick to the surface.

You can use paint stripper like he mentioned above ^^

you dont need to sand the clearcoat off, just rough them up with a scotch-brite pad and then prime and spray
