Practice dremmel cutting for sidemarker installation?

Im going to install my dc5 side markers on my em2 this weekend. Any recommendations on what i can use to practice cutting into before actually doing it on my fender? I cant find any wrecked fenders in my area to practice on and im not too sure of what type of metal our fenders are made of (maybe really thin tin?) so is there anything similar i can pick up from homedepot or anywhere?

how bout you use a marker and draw how big and where the hole will be on your fender then use the dremel and slowly make the hole bigger and bigger, by the time you get the line you will have a good feel for the dremels cutting speed. take your time go slow and use two hands
