proper fuel for Mini-Me?

I searched beforehand and found no answer to my question...

Do you need to run a higher octane fuel with a mini-me swap? After mine, the rest of the regular in the tank ran like s**t (especially up hills) and it seemed to run better when I put in 93. I've ran 89 for the past few tanks and it seems to like it okay. I'm just wondering if it will be fine with 89 or if I need to use 93. Super is just so damn expensive, but I don't wanna wreck all my hard work, lol.

My short block is stock but I read using the y8 head gasket when doing this swap increases the compression, which would require a higher-octane fuel. *shrugs*

sounds like an ignition problem, check your distributor, somthing may be up.

Dizzy, wires, plugs... all brand new. It's running better now so I think it was just because my car sat from late January through the first of July without running on a nearly empty tank. And I'm still running the stock b7 ecu as well.

This thread wasn't really that I had a "problem," it was that I wanted to make sure I didn't need to use a higher-octane fuel because of increased compression with the mini-me. Thanks for the advise guys! =)

Unless you're at 11:1 or more, there's not much reason to go to 91 or 93 octane. Even a tuned engine @ 12:1 can operate on 87.
