Is this normal? I have a brand new 2009 civic lx-s with automatic transmission. I am driving on a highway at rush hour going only about 25mph in D when suddenly the traffic breaks.. I step on the accelerator to speed up and the tach redlines before the trans shifts into a lower gear. I didnt floor it but wouldnt say I gradually attempted to accelerate either. why would it take so long to shift? Interesting thing is when I was test driving another civic before I purchased this one it did the same thing. The salesman said 'weird, never saw that before'.
