okay now i admit i don know much about suspen so i'm hoping most of you can help me out...
as you kow i recently bought some 17" - what i wanted....
now i am gonna be riding with stock height for this season, fine, but i am sure i would want to drop it. now i am not looking to spend a grand on suspen, but want a nice ride.... also i am not dropping it too low as it is a daily driver both winter and summer, so maybe a 1-1.8" drop... and i want to keep stock shocks...
what do i get just lowering springs? Coilovers?
i know coilovers are adjustable, but springss are 1.4 of the cost, is that the only diff?
rememebr i am on a budget...

yeah, if you want to be able to adjust the height, you will need coilovers....but you should be able to find a set of real nice coilovers for under 1k

yeah see but i want to spend maybe 500 CND total for suspen... lol
so springs good enough?
my 17" with rubber is not much diff with my 13" stock with rubber, so ride height gonna be even in summer and winter... coilovers would be great for shows though as i can drop it like its h-o-t....

I have skunk2 coilovers and i love them. i like being in control of my drop 8) the main diff is that these are just what they say..... adjustable the others are not.

i also have skunk2 on my car....ive had regular lowering springs, and other brands of coilovers on some of my past cars, but nothing compares to the skunk2's....at least for me....they are soft, but not so soft that it feels like im riding around on a sofa...unless thats what your looking for...i like a little stiffness in my ride ;)

then why is it so much more expensive for the other colover systems? do they include the shock?
and thsese are just the springs? whats the big price difference like why were these classified seperetly from the coilover sytems and this was lsited as an adjustable shock?

----------------------------------

what ar the differences between these two?
the pics look different as well why the price difference? same thing less the shocks? are my stock shocks good, as long as the drop isn't more then 1.5 right?

Well I have TEIN's High Tech Springs.

Only 1.3 Inch Drop on the front and 1 inch on the rear.

I am driving my car this winter. I am putting it away next. These were mildest springs I could find yet there not mild enough for winter driving up here.

When there is some snow on the road it scrapes the underbody. You know how the plows go through after a storm but don't clear the road completly clear or they go through and plow and then it snows some more. Doesn't take a lot of snow on the road for me to hear it underneath my car. Mind you EM1's have limited ground clearance to start with maybe your car will be different.

The springs were only $250 CDN though.

My recommendation is either get Adjustable Coilovers and set them up all the way in winter and hope it is high enough or don't drive the car in the winter if it is lowered.

coil over kits ( skunk2, ground control etc)----utilize ur stock or after market shocks

coil over systems( tein, intrax, tanabe)----complete kit with shocks, etc....has a wider band of adjustment

springs----not adjustable, utilize stock or aftermarket shocks, great if you dont want the hassle of making adjustments and know what ride height u want, usually a better ride than coilovers again using USUALLY to equal the majority of ppl

I've recently purchased some 17's as well and I'm going to purchase a set of coilover's more than likely the skunk2 or GC when I get the cash. I like the idea of being able to adjust the ride height if I decide to change tire size / type or during the off season. Just my .02
