Rag in the Intake???

So I was checking out everything in my engine bay and making sure everything sounded good and looked good and I checked my stock intake box and when i lifter the filter I found a rag in the box?? I bought this car off a guy and idk if that's actually something people do? Any reason that could help or is that just a goof

It was probablystuffed in there while the filter was out and car was being worked on to keep any debris out of the motors intake and was forgotten about when filter was reinstalled. I hope you removed it
