When sitting at a light the other day I let my foot off the brake pedal and noticed that the rpms went down. I hadn't noticed this before so when I got to work I checked some things.

With the vehicle at idle and sitting still when I push my brake pedal the rpms go up to around 1000 and when I let my foot off it goes back down to idle ~800.

I also noticed sometimes with my foot on the pedal the idle will fluctuate from idle to 1000 and back a couple times. Doesn't do it all the time but it definitely does go up to around 1000 every time when I push the pedal. Most of the time it will sit at 1000 until I let my foot off.

Is this normal because of brakes running off vacuum or is there a leak? I found an old post talking about this on HT and RonJ showed a way to test the booster and the check valve. Will do that tomorrow, but just want to know if that is normal or not.

Yeah I think it's pretty normal. Mine does it too. Both of my cars have done that.

Cool. That is what I thought with it being through vacuum but wasn't 100%

It has probably been doing it the whole time and I just now noticed.
