Looks like your friend wants you in a sexually sexual way... if you know what I'm saying... with the sexual.

But anyways, Rev Limit is Handled by the ECU. Engine and ECU are correct.
Does it make that sound everyone time it hits 6,000rpm?
Are you manual or automatic?

You may have a problem that causes a misfire when you reach high RPM.
Check to see if your Tach is idling at the right RPM.
It's highly unlikely that your ECU has been chipped, but it wouldn't hurt to take it out and check it.

I know exactly what you are talking about, my roommate has a 95 ej with the EXACT same problem, Im absolutely stumped, I know that you did not hit redline just rev limited though. For those of you who havnt seen or heard it, it sounds just like a car redlining at 6k exactly instead of 7.2k

My brother's 94 Civic EX (w/ 240,000 miles on it [Sold now]) sometimes it would only hit 6000 rpms; and then other times it would open up all the way to 7200.... it was really weird.
