So i went to the junkyard today...(need help)

so this is my first post in FI part of the forum but im slowly trying to piece together turbo kit for my z6. went to the local junkyard with a friend and we went searching, thinking that they would be hard to come by, but we saw a few, but we couldnt remove any, and we tried, and tried. i specifically remember working on pulling a garrett a/r .48 turbo on a 92 saab and we couldnt get it off, also saw another garrett turbo, much bigger, on a 84 mercedes. anyway, my question(S) are:

for those willing to help, in most cases, whats the best way of removing a turbo from a car? i know it sounds like a dumb question but spare me im simple. also

what other car besides saabs & volvos can i find turbos? i looked for eagle talons/eclispse gsx's and didnt see any. any american cars to look out for?

get back at me people im going back tomorrow so i wanna know what could be a better car to check to steal a turbo off, because im lookin for a small turbo somewhat with some moderate power

anything thats a deisel is usually turbocharged as well...you could always just charge it and pull one off a 350

volvos, dsm's, saab's and older mercedes is basically where your going to get your turbo's from.. i know alot of people use the volvo's turbos

if you could find a 14b out of an eclipse then that would be a perfect little turbo for your motor because it will spool very quickly..

try other junkyards, or call around before you go just to see what they have so you arent wasting your time/money

Unless you have nothing else to do, then by all means- go to the junkyard and pick and pull

EDIT: maybe you could find a VW turbo somewhere ?

hmm i just got a huge list of what cars has turbos from cmrdevlopment. like i said i saw a few garrett turbos from saabs but im lookin out for 14b, and they only come from eclispses?yea im goin to a different junkyard tomorrow, and from what i understand, for what i plan to do, only the 14b turbo and t25 turbo fits my applications, is there any other small turbos that fit in that catagory? anyone else care to comment on that?

well i know that a turbo made by holset can be found on a dodge diesel truck
some people say its the best junkyard turbo

man, took us two hours to get this damn turbo out from this saab, had hella extra parts n crap, and it was too big to steal and i didnt wanna pay. so i put it in a trunk of a car and ill go back on half off weekend and get it. man we bashed the radiator out, the piping and everything else out the way, and a ratching wrench is a godsend. f**kin 92 saab
