Just did my taxes online (I believe they're correct).. didn't file them yet, but they're saying I owe $46 lol.

Anyone know reasons for owing money? I didn't really make any changes between this year and last..

I worked three jobs this year, still retain two of them. (Dominos and Best Buy). I go to school full time but only have like 6k in loans right now. Since I'm only 19, my parents claimed me as a Dependant, and I have I have an exemption on one job that I've worked, 0 on the other two..

I know it's only $46, but I was looking forward to a nice boost. Not a decrease lol. OH, and I didn't even get a stimulus payment from last year either. Soo where's you financial specialists? Help me out haha

46 bucks? s**t That would be nice.
For the future, you may want to have then take an extra 20 bucks a check for taxes, this will help you at the end of the year when you file. you shouldnt owe then if you claim 0.

Taxes suck

Depending on why you didn't get the stimulas last yr, there should be a spot that will allow you to put that down, and you can get it this yr. Also I do have to say THANK YOU GOVERNMENT, I own a house, work 2 jobs, 3 during the summer, bust my butt getting things paid. And I am getting 500 back, if I didn't own my house I was going to be paying around 90 back. It sucks man, I know what you mean because I was looking at getting like a Grand back or more because of the house....... And because I closed before April I don't get the "first time home buyer credit" What about the people that just pay for the home they have? UGGGGHHHH Don't get me started lol Sorry man!

Another thing I did was went to a few websites like turbo tax H&R Block etc... Checked mine, most let you file BASIC for free... And charge a fee for state. I used freetaxusa.com and have for the past 5 yrs. I love them so far, and charge only 9.95 to E-file your state, get your taxes back in like 2 weeks. So yeah I would suggest checking around. H&R wants 30 for state!

And the stimulas thing, again you should be able to put that down and get it this yr if you qualify.

Yeah I used TaxSlayer.com, it's what I used last year too. But I didn't get a stimulus because my parents claimed me, as they are again this year. So I don't think I qualify :what:

My friend you are not getting that back lol.... I hated when my parent's claimed me.... But hey think of what they save you during the yr! Maybe ask them to pay your money you owe?

Also did you claim any donations? Shoot if you go to Good WIll most of the time they give you a reciept for the donation and you can put in any amount, so if you have clothes that were worth say 300 new, then you can claim that and have a receipt. I did that and got back 50 extra bucks... That would cover what you owe! What about state????

Those internet sites dont give you back your maximum refund. They make it easy for you to get your taxes done but they're on the government's side. I've been using them for years and finally this year I went to a tax prep and I'm getting twice as much back as what the web site quoted me without any "tax credits" and all that bullshit. I say f**k a stimulus, they can keep it.

IF your parents claimed you then they get your stimulus check. IF your over 17 no one gets your stimulus check. IF you claim yourself you get it back. Thats how that crap works. Parents claimed me last year so I got screwed also.

When you got your job did you put down 0 or 1 for them so they know what to do for you taxes on you paycheck? If you claimed 1 and then your parents claimed you (0 when you claim) then you pay. Basically if you put down 0 they take more money then 1 because in 1 you have to "support" 1 person.

I always put 0 down at my job so they take more money. Then at file time I claimed 1 so I get more money back.

If you owe money then your workplace is probably not doing something right. Also you shouldnt let them take an extra amount of money out of your check. If you right do it right you shouldnt owe anything anyways. And your just letting the govt borrow your money interest free....

THIS is all the information I have concluded over the past 3 or 4 years of me filing. SO I may be wrong but I tend to pay alot of attention to what happens to my money unlike a lot of other high school/college kid
