Four years ago I bought my 98 civic ex from my dads dealership. its an automatic and at the time thats what he had wanted me to get. I really want to get into a standard and know a few people who just switched there cars over and was wondering if its worth it or just buy another civic. I would hate to sell my car because i've already put so much into it. Does anyone know a rough estimate how much it would cost?

Civics are a dime a dozen. Sell yours and buy a new one, unless for some reason you just want to do the auto to manual conversion.

I would only say to keep it and do the swap if your car is in great shape in and out. Around here it's pretty freaking hard to find a manual that hasnt been, crashed, trashed, flooded ect.

DIY. It's easy as crap. I did it to a eg 4door n that car still runs like it was originally five speed. All you need is a ecu. Transmission. Clutch, flywheel. Transmission mounts. Shift linkage. Five speed pedals. Everything is bolt on.
