Ok so i have a 95 civic ex i believe, and it was sitting on four different rims and tires lol. So i have bought it four ford esscort wheels with fairly new tires... The problem is when i hit the brakes now the brake pedel goes nutts! and when i creep slow it makes a sound.. i checked and its the front drivers tire only.. It hardly spins when jacked up and the other side does no problem... For some info i did this with a T bar and with the jack that comes with the car, Took me along time and i think i might have mest my s*** up lol. It seems the more i drive it the better it gets though anyone know whats up?

Are the wheels all weighted the same? Did you mess with the rotors/calipers/hub when changing the tires? Do you have brake fluid and is it leaking?

well first off if its rubbing you need to stop driving the car before you cause a major problem.

second. what is the offset of the wheels?

So, you're under the impression that it has something to do with the new wheels? Or did you mess something up in the process of changing the wheels/jacking up the car? I'm a little confused.

Did you have to use wheel spacers for the new wheels? That's my first guess. A lot of times, even though the lug pattern is the same, wheels from different makes don't fit the inner hub correctly which requires the use of wheel spacers to distance the rim off of the hub enough to allow for proper mounting. If that's the case, you need to stop driving and get some spacers asap.

But, from the sound of things, it could be something completely different... new wheels rubbing the caliper, dust shield.... who knows. Doesn't sound like something you should ignore though, never drive when your wheels, suspension or brakes are questionable. Don't tempt fate.

WTF is mest? Google came up with nothing.

Get under the car and find out what is rubbing. You can find out better than we can. Visual is better than just words in a situation like this. Not that hard to find out where it is rubbing. My guess is like said above. It is either rubbing on the heat shield, caliper, or possibly the strut.

Ok i think the problem is what deciper said. and i might need spacers.. but i dont get why only one is messing around.. i thin the inner hub or what ever doesnt go around it properly, the wheels seem tight too where its mounted so theres no gaps.

If spacers are what you need, they are only a few bucks off of eBay so.. cheap fix. You just have to determine what size spacer you need to clear the hub. I might take it into a shop and get it aligned after all that driving with them not properly mounted. Hope that's all it is... rubbing, grinding or scraping is never fun.

Do the wheels have the correct center bore? If not, you will need to get hub centric rings. Spacers are DIFFERENT than hub centric rings. I'm going to guess that this is the most likely problem.

Just curious. How would one find out the center bore measurement and whether or not rings are needed? I have a set of miata wheels on my EK, had to use 5mm spacers to fit the hub. Should I be running rings? I've never felt any adverse effects from the wheels.

Google is your friend.

You civic has a center bore of 56.1mm

The older Miata center bore is 54.1mm. The newer '05+ MX-5's are 67.1mm.

If you haven't felt any vibration or had issues with fitment, you probably have the right center bore spacers.

Heres a sneak peak, not my civic but same rims and same civic :P and my wheels are black

Tuck those babies under a nice drop and I'm in love. Never imagined the wheels looking good after I heard the word "escort"... but I really like those. Nice job.

So was it both the center bore and spacers that you needed or what?
