timing belt

ok so my timing belt is a little loose nothing like bad yet but first question if i can get a quick run down of difficulty and how to on tightening it and ive heard that with a vtec motor if you throw the timing belt or it needs o be replaced that it can majorly screw up vtec timing first i wanna know if this is true and second how if anyway can you avoid it as much as possible

ok well its just not as taught as the other belts are and ive had some friends look at it and they agree but like i said its not major at all im just wonderin for the future when it does become a problem
