VIN# lookup to match wrecking yard parts

Is there a quick way to match VIN#'s to correctly matching parts i.e. color, cloth pattern, etc.? I have a couple of good yards with websites, but most of the photos are inadequate or do not show the part completely. Some even look like what I want but it may be a trick of the light. One yard gave me the VIN and suggested that I contact Honda to see if the trim and color were a match, but it seems like there must be a easier way. Any thoughts or suggestions?

You can usually match up with your model you have.
Certain models had certain color combos and parts.

There are not many choices when it came to variation of fabric and color combos, which you can usually figure out by the trim model it is and exterior color.
