I have a 1999 Civic EX and I've always considered my car to be an EK9.
My issue is that i just saw that my car is an EM1?????????? And it's definitely not an EJ or EK4

What would my car be:?:

But the way I see things, the EJ's are like 96 to 98 with dat weired looking side markers, EM1's and EK's have the 99-2000 front end which is what I have.

when looking at all those WAY COOL HERRA JDM parts stores online, you would need to buy parts for an EK chassis. that is the single solitary time you are allowed to come anywhere close to thinking that your car is an EK. after you pay out the ass for overpriced stock equipment and close the browser window. you are bound by CC.com law to return to calling your car what it is; an EJ8.

so could i still consider it an ek?
You can consider your car to be whatever your heart desires.

check your vin
yup, just like this man said,

Your chassis code can be found in the vin(vehicle identification number, which is found in several places on the car, but most commonly found wedge between the windshield and dashboard ) .

My VIN says EJ8.... okay, so what the hell is the 2000 civic hatch type-r then? So isn't it an EJ8 too?

i'm more concerned about the body rather than the actual specs, but thinking of putting a k20 Type-R in it

Hmmmmmm, just so you know there are no EKs in the U.S. We just use the name as slang.
