Hey i had a question. What is that big black plastic can or box thing that in the engine bay mounted under the firewall under the fuel filter?? what is it? what does it do? amd can I take that damn thing out??? haha

thats your charcoal canister..its for emissions purposes..you can take it off, you might have the occasional gas smell though

Yes you will fail state inspection or SMOG inspection (depending on your state). All evap control parts are required by federal law.

You'll most likely develop a check engine light too, for a minor or gross evap leak code.
A CEL is an automatic smog fail, they wouldn't even need to pop the hood.
