so my car has a new whine to it, it sounds like it could be a belt, but i inspected my belts and they all look fine, they all move freely when the pulleys are going, i cant figure out what it could be. it goes up/down in pitch with the RPMs. any ideas? the engine is stock except for a b18 TB and port matched IM

Ill give you the advice ronj gave me.
undo your alternator belt and see if it still wines, if not its the alternator

^^ thank you sir! i shall try this after my nap. my radar detector has a battery voltage readout, and its always around 13v while driving, so i would think my alternator is good, ill still give it a go today

Have you recently done any belt work?

get a stethoscope or a piece of hose and start listening around, check the water pump, might be the shaft bearings

i put a new alternator belt on because my old one snapped, it was old and worn, and i put my ps belt and pulley on after the pulley nut came off and caused my ps pulley to fall off turning in the driveway
