I have a 96 civic ex with vtec. I am having transmission problems and found a used vtec-e transmission off of a civic hx. Could anyone tell me whether or not this transmission will work with my ex motor?

thanks for the advice. i just needed my car running better without popping out of gear. once i install the trany i'll just get nitrous and eventually have no other choice than to swap.

i don't know much about gear ratios but isn't it better when it's shorter?

Shorter is better for racing. But the shorter it is the lower your top speed. (Determined by the Final Drive)

Long Gears are great for highway driving.

The civic HX tranny has longer gear ratios. in first it can go up to about 40, second up to about 75 and third up to 100. if u know how to drive it u can get around a 16.8 stock with this gearing (at lvms). so with the longer gearing it will go faster with out shifting, you just need to ride your clutch. if you want good trap speeds and dont mind shifting, you are better off with an ex tranny because the gearing is closer and you will be in the power band longer.
