Wont go into reverse

90 Civic 4 speed, try to put it in revers it just wont go into gear. All the other gears work fine, just cant put the shifter into reverse, it just feels like your hitting a brick wall. No grinds or weird noises, It doesnt appear to be bound up in any way. Any ideas?

cable trannies . either its broken at the shifter or further down at the tranny

i sometimes have to stick it into first and then reverse all while the clutch is down.

Check the linkage underneath for any obvious damage.....other than that, id say transmission issue and that is something i know nothing about

well you always put it in first before reverse on cable trannies....i have a ys1 on my hatch and it has a really small leak....but when it gets low on fluid it starts doing that.....try addin some 10w-30 oil in it and see if you are low....dont fill it all the way though thats too much
