Well this fall BillK and I will be tearing apart the motor in the sol. My question is I will be getting an aftermarket Scat crank, is there any advantage to having a lightweight crank?

Any help is appriciated like always

as far as boost goes im pretty sure the stock crank can hold up to basically anything you throw at it... if the lightweight one is as strong as the stock one then id say go for it.. but i would save the money and keep the stock one

unless the stock is is out of balance i would keep the stock one. idk if i would trust scat since i heard bad stories about their rods.

problem with using a lightweight crank is that it will take longer to build boost as there is not as much load compared to the stock crank. also between shifts you will be falling out of boost faster so you have to shift quicker... goes along the same line as a lightweight flywheel.

upside to having lighter crank is motor can rev faster, frees up power or more power to the ground
