Interesting idea, but just another place for people here to start s**t IMHO.....

If its not controlled (well it has been the past week or so....lol) in the threads where people DO monitor, what makes you think this will be drama free? We have enough s**t threads IMO (the onles I participate in...)

I've been reading up on this post for a while now and i'm not a fan of the whole shoutbox idea. The reason being is because the last time we had it a lot of members would be post up questions there instead of creating a thread. People would also post links to other sites, free advertising, porn etc. Maybe if it would only be used for VIP members only I wouldn't have such a big problem with it. I'll look to see if you can set permissions via usergroups with it

so if this does work out would the site just get rid of the AIM chat thing that no one uses. i think i was in there for 4 hours one time and i saw 2 people for about a minute.

the more i thought about it after reading your comment the more i think you are right.. people lack the ability to control themselves at times in threads that are moderated... let alone a real time chat... i think that it would be a nightmare to try to control... if you really want to chat i mean you could just use aim or any of the other numerous chat clients available.. im ok with giving it a try if thats what jay jay decides.. but i have to say that you are probably right and over all i think im more against it than originally..

I’ve been debating whether or not to add this feature for a while now and decided to not install it. I feel it will just cause more trouble then be of any help and would only encourage off-topic chit-chat.

you know what, you're f**kin right I downloaded aim last week and kept it for a few days. I had to remove that s**t because my pc started actin funny pop-ups and s**t

umm i have aol AND aim and have not had a single pop up in a really long time.. seriously?

I never used too either when I had the old aim but when I downloaded aim last week it was the new one. It looked totally different and sucked, the aim icon even looked different.
