i just realized i never made a thread for my car. these photos are from may of this year.





nothing's really done to her yet.. the DRLs are unplugged and the foglights have been rewired so that they can be turned on with the parking lights as well as the high beams. i should be getting a godspeed turbo inlet this coming week since the stocker is starting to break on me. helix uppipe coming soon after that in a couple of weeks... i gotta put a new timing belt in before first snow though.. she's already past 90k

MY02... first year wrx's were sold in the USDM... it's too bad this country never got GC chassis wrx's... back in chile, one of my buddies had a killer 96 wrx.. and it cost him under 4 grand.

thanks guys, glad ya'll like her =) still unnamed, i dunno what to call her yet. i usually name my cars after their paint color (flamenco, clover, van, argent)... platinum just seems too much like a pornstar/stripper name....

nice a friedn of mine just bought the same year. Actually same color also. silver is the most common color for that gen i think. Very nice. hows the maintanece on it?

i sold her in july to a friend of mine who was in dire need of transporation... $1000 cash.

platinum silver metallic is rather common, though not as common as world rally blue. it's just the middle of the line color, i guess. i wanted something that didn't stand out, hence silver and wingless... previous owner was a middle-aged gentleman enthusiast... dude went to skip barber and all that...

as for basic maintenance, easy peasy. i dont' even need to raise the car to change the oil & oil filter. however, everything in the engine bay is jam packed pretty tightly.

and yea, the wheels gotta go but i can't afford a set. the stock wheels will be a great winter set though

a smidge over $10k... she had ~86k miles when i got her. this was back in may. i actually went out all the way to NJ to drive her home because i actually ended up saving money that way (yes, even after the plane ticket, fuel costs, and motel room). right now i'm seeing lots of 02 & 03 wrx's going for under $10k, though they're all ~100k miles.

I love this car, tho i like the 06 model the best its also a littl more pricey. I have heard horror story about the timeing belt smnapping after 75K.. heard anything about that. reason i ask is cuz there are a bunch here same year for about 10-12K but like you said have 100K or more.

I used to like the bug eye the most but I like the 06-07 the most now. Forget what it's called... Hawk eye? I dunno. My buddy has an 06, stage 2 Cobbs AccessPort, skunk2 catback, and cobbs (I think) gutted cat. God that thing sounds so sexy and pulls hard :shock:. We did a pull on the highway a few weeks back, me in 3rd, him in 5th, from a 65 roll, and I didn't even pull on him at all (which was expected but I've always wanted to do that with a WRX). I got the jump since he didn't want to honk, he just said he'd go when I went, and he was off like a f**kin rocket.

the horror stories you've heard are due to the nature of the DOHC and 97+ SOHC EJ-series engines. they are interference engines. if the timing belt fails, the pistons and valves will collide. in most honda engines, however, there is enough clearance between the pistons and the valves to prevent a collision if the timing belt does snap.the EJ engine isn't as forgiving. i'm just over 90k, gotta do mine soon.


yeah the car will be stage 2 at the very least... but these cars are pretty f'n pricey to mod, so who knows how long that'll take.. i don't have $600 to throw on a tune here and there.
